The Coupe Le Blanc 2017
Date: 10th April 2017
La Coupe Le Blanc
Saint-Hyacinthe, Monday 10th April 2017 - the Coupe Le Blanc takes a hiatus to return stronger in 2018.
After 10 successful years, the Coupe Le Blanc organizing committee has decided to cancel the 2017 edition of the event to make changes to the format of the tournament and to return with an improved version in 2018.
We believe that the time is right to effect a few major changes that will allow the event to better attain its objectives:
- Offer our young players from Quebec (both boys and girls) an opportunity to measure themselves against the best players from around the planet and to do so here at home;
- Be a showcase for young players that may be attracted to tennis, and to be a source of motivation and pride for our young players from Quebec;
- Offer the participants an event of high quality both because of the high caliber of the competition and because of the event’s organization.
We sincerely feel that we have achieved these objectives over the past decade. However, we believe that it is possible to raise the event to a new level and make it a must event for the other tennis federations from around the world.
Among the possible changes the organizing committee is investigating: raising the maximum age limit for participation from the current 12 to 14 years; changing the event dates to reduce the possibility of scheduling conflicts with other countries, especially in Europe; and studying the possibility of changing the format of the competition from the current Davis Cup style, i.e. by country.
We also take this opportunity to reiterate our sincerest gratitude to all the sponsors,volunteers, organizers and host families that contributed to the tremendous success of the Coupe Le Blanc for the past 10 years. We also thank the various federations, the players and coaches that participated in the event over the years.
We will inform you of the proposed changes for 2018 in the coming months.
So, let`s make it a date for 2018!
